1. beforehand

adv.  提前;事先,预先;

[例句]How could she tell beforehand that I was going to go out?

         她怎么会事先知道我要出去?

2. behave

vi.     表现;举止端正;自然反应;

vt.    使守规矩;

[例句]I couldn't believe these people were behaving in this way.

        我难以相信这些人竟会有这种举动。

3. bewilder

vt.    使迷惑;使为难;使手足无措;使变糊涂;

[例句]The silence from Alex had hurt and bewildered her.

         亚历克斯的沉默伤害了她,让她不知所措。

4. bias

n.      偏见;倾向;偏爱,爱好;斜纹;

vt.    使倾向于;使有偏见;影响;加偏压于;

adj.  斜纹的;斜的,倾斜的;斜裁的;

[例句]Bias against women permeates every level of the judicial system.

        各级司法机构普遍存在对女性的偏见。

5. blame

vt.    归咎于;指责,责怪;

n.      责备;责任;过失;

[例句]The commission is expected to blame the army for many of the atrocities.

         委员会理应谴责军队的诸多暴行。



6. blast

n.      爆炸;一阵(疾风等);(吹奏乐器、哨子、汽车喇叭等突然发出的)响声;突如其来的强劲气流;

vt.    击毁,摧毁;尖响; 裁判高声吹哨;枯萎:使枯萎;

vi.     爆炸;吼叫;枯萎:枯萎;攻击:严厉批评或猛烈攻击;

[例句]There is a risk that toxic chemicals might be blasted into the atmosphere.

         爆炸后有毒化学物质可能会进入大气层。

7. blaze


n.      火焰;光辉;爆发;光彩;

vi.     猛烈地燃烧;发光,照耀;

vt.    在树片上刻痕指示(道路等);公开宣布;

[例句]Three people died as wreckage blazed, and rescuers fought to release trapped drivers.

         汽车残骸熊熊燃烧,三人葬身火海,救援人员奋力解救被困的司机们。

8. blunt

adj.  直率的;迟钝的;钝的,不锋利的;呆板的;

vt.    使迟钝;使钝;

n.      钝的东西;小雪茄烟;

[例句]She is blunt about her personal life.

        她对自己的私生活直言不讳。

9. blush

vi.     脸红,惭愧;变红;害臊,怕羞;

n.      脸红,红色;<古>一见,一瞥;

[例句]'Hello, Maria,' he said, and she blushed again.

         “你好,玛丽亚,”他说,这让她脸上又泛起了红晕。

10. boast

vt.    夸口说;自夸,自吹自擂;以有…而自豪;自负有;

n.      夸口,自负;自负的事物,引以为傲的东西;自夸的话;扬言;

[例句]Witnesses said Furci boasted that he took part in killing them.

        几位证人声称富尔奇曾吹嘘自己参与了对他们的屠杀。

11. bolt

n.      螺栓,螺钉;闪电,雷电;门闩;弩箭;

vt.    筛选;囫囵吞下;(把门、窗等) 闩上;突然说出,脱口说出;

vi.     (门窗等)闩上,拴住; 冲出,跳出;(马等的)脱缰;囫囵吞下;

[例句]The safety belt is easy to fit as there's no need to bolt it to seat belt anchorage points.

12. boom

         接着出现了经济繁荣,尤其是在房地产业和建筑业。

13. border

vt.    与…接界,在…的边上;

vt.    沿…的边,环绕…,给…镶边;
