President Donald Trump is reportedly preparing to sign several executive orders aimed at restricting immigration. US media say he will sign an order tightening security along the Mexican border. He'll also be seeking tougher visa regulations for citizens from seven Middle East and African countries with predominantly Muslim populations. Reports say that already this year more than 40 people have been murdered and 228 people have been shot. Mr. Trump said he would send in the FBI if Chicago did not fix, what he called, the horrible carnage.

The French President Francois Hollande has been meeting leaders of Colombia'slargest rebel movement the FARC in the west of the country. Mr. Hollande,accompanied by Colombia's President, offered financial support for de-mining programs.

Panama's Chief Prosecutor says 17 people have been charged with money laundering in connection with the bribery scheme involving the Brazilian construction giant Odebrecht. He said the group included former officials and business people.
